About us
Inaugurated in 2021 in Montreal, Institut National Art contemporain is a private gallery born from a collaboration between contemporary artist Olicorno and entrepreneur Michèle Powell. The gallery is dedicated to the recognition and emergence of contemporary art and wishes to contribute to its influence on the local, national and international scene.

By encouraging diversity - diversity of people but also diversity of art types - the gallery wishes to make known to a large public the richness of the practices of local and other creators, while setting itself up as a critical commentary on the current artistic system. Even in the irony of its name, Institut National finds its strength in the use and deconstruction of certain symbols that are ubiquitous in the elitist and compartmentalized environment of traditional galleries.

Serving as a springboard for the careers of the artists it represents, the gallery is dedicated to the support and promotion of contemporary art in the hope of providing a space for openness, reflection and inclusion, to increase the understanding of contemporary art and thus to democratize, in a way, the existing art gallery environment and its access to emerging artists.
